Adjustments & Manipulation

Adjustments, sometimes referred to as manipulations, are the minor movement of spinal vertebrae. The objective is to realign vertebrae that have moved out of place. The reasons vertebrae may have moved can range from regular daily activity to trauma such as an accident.

When vertebrae are out of place, there can be an overall systemic effect on the muscles, central nervous system, and more. To function at our peak it helps when all the nerves and systems in the body from the brain are all properly aligned and flowing.

The adjustment process, performed by a chiropractor, is often a pressure with the hands or an instrument to help move vertebrae back into place. This usually happens with a quick movement and is often without pain or discomfort. The noise you may hear, which often sounds like you’re cracking your knuckles, is referred to as joint cavitation. The sound is the release of gases from the joint.

When the body is in alignment, it can perform as it was designed to. That is why adjustments are an excellent way to keep the body functioning at its highest level.

Electrical ARPWave

TheraStim offers a unique form of electrical muscle stimulation. TheraStim is a direct current electrotherapy modality that is utilized for reducing pain, muscle spasms, increasing and restoring range of motion, and increasing circulation to the affected areas; all helping to facilitate the healing process

TheraStim is a neuromuscular stimulator that introduces electrical signals to the body through conductive electrode pads to provide relief for a variety of health complaints. Its unique waveform and use of direct current allows it to get deeper into injured tissues than traditional electrical muscle stimulators or Tens Units without surface pain or damage.

TheraStim is like administering an electric massage all the way down to the surface of the bone. The electrical charge is drawn to the injured tissue, which also has an electric charge. And because it is an active therapy, it’s necessary for the patient to work the body part into the direction of pain. This draws the electricity to the injury. With the proper electrode placement, the patient is VERY happy to have found “the spots.”

Therapeutic Exercises

Therapeutic exercise refers to a range of physical activities that helps restore and build physical strength, endurance, flexibility, balance, and stability. The goal of therapeutic exercise is returning an injured person to a pain-free, fully functioning state.

Therapeutic exercise begins by taking a medical history and evaluating a patient’s physical condition and capabilities. Based on an initial assessment, the care provider will determine a treatment plan that includes an exercise program tailored to the patient’s needs. Therapeutic exercise programs are carefully monitored and emphasize slow progression. A provider may assist the patient with some physical movements, if warranted, and will continuously modify the treatment plan according to the patient’s progress.
